ITIND

Overview

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) remains one of the most common urological conditions in older men, with symptoms such as hesitancy, urgency, poor flow, and nocturia becoming increasingly disruptive with age.

Until recently, the primary treatment options were daily medications or more invasive surgeries, such as TURP. While effective, these treatments often come with side effects or recovery time that many men wish to avoid.

The iTind procedure is an innovative, temporary implant-based treatment designed to relieve urinary symptoms caused by BPH, without cutting, heating, or removing tissue.

iTind (short for Temporarily Implanted Nitinol Device) is a small, self-expanding device inserted through the urethra under light sedation. Once inside the prostate, it gently expands and reshapes the tissue over a period of 5 – 7 days. This reshaping relieves pressure on the urethra and restores urine flow. After this period, the device is fully removed, leaving the prostate permanently reshaped.

The procedure is performed entirely in a day setting, with no need for general anaesthetic, and most patients return to their usual activities almost immediately after removal of the device.

A key benefit of iTind is that it preserves both sexual and urinary function, making it an ideal solution for men who are concerned about side effects from medications or surgical options.

At The Prostate Clinic, iTind is offered to carefully selected men who have moderate BPH symptoms, and whose prostate anatomy is suitable for this type of reshaping therapy.
