Who is suitable for which drug?

As a crude rule of thumb alpha blockers are more appropriate for younger men with small prostates who are still sexually active. 5 ARIs are more suitable for older men with larger glands, who are less concerned with the potential for sexual dysfunction side effects. It should be noted that for more significant symptoms or in those with bothersome side effects from drugs alternate treatment options should be investigated. These would include UroLift or GreenLight laser prostatectomy.
