The first is a group called alpha blockers; they work by relaxing the muscle in the outlet pipe as it passes through the prostate. Examples of this include Flowmaxtra, Minipess, Pressin. Another type of medication is one that can slowly reduce the size of the prostate if taken over a long period of time. These drugs are called 5 alpha reductase inhibitors 5 ARIs. Examples include Proscar/ Finasteride, Dutasteride/ Avodart or Duodart which also contains Flowmaxtra.
