Most frequently men will experience blood within their urine for a few weeks afterwards. Stinging and burning for the first few days is also common. For men with significant bladder instability prior to the surgery, there is a likelihood that this will deteriorate initially before things settle down This can take 2 to 3 months to resolve. The majority of men will experience retrograde ejaculation ( a dry organsm) which is permanent when present. There is a 1% risk of worsening erection following surgery as opposed to 8-18% which is reported with the traditional TURP operation.
