How does the Artemis platform differ from traditional prostate biopsy methods?

by | Jul 12, 2023

Traditional prostate biopsies have been performed using transrectal ultrasound-guided needle placement, which carries a risk of infection and may make accessing anteriorly placed lesions difficult. In contrast, the Artemis platform utilizes a transperineal approach, avoiding needle placement through the bowel wall and allowing better access to the front part or anterior aspect of the prostate. Additionally, the Artemis platform provides a more accurate and reliable fusion of MRI and ultrasound images, reducing guesswork and improving the precision of targeted prostatic biopsies.
